26th.

I have a Christmas hangover.

Not because my cousins gave me a cup of wine and told me it was grape juice (which they didn't. Not this year, anyway). Not because I got an entire truckload of presents and crap that I wanted but didn't really need (which I didn't. Thank goodness >< I hate guilt).

No, no, no. The reason why I can't get off my lazy bum and drag myself to do any work is because...it still feels like Christmas to me.

Christmas has always been a big deal for me. My family has all these yearly traditions that we *try* to follow through with. Christmas Eve means dragging all of my family from my dad's side to our house. The adults watch Paris by Night and do whatever adults do together, and the kids run upstairs and try to sabotage each other playing Monopoly. Eventually around 1 or 2 in the morning, we get tired and all fall asleep.
On Christmas, after morning mass we leave my dad's side of the family and go over to my grandparents' house from my mom's side. The gift-giving's pretty big, and everybody always gets a lot of presents. And then we watch basketball. Christmas is the only day in the entire year that I ever watch basketball.

It's been different lately. Christmas Eve with dad's side began thinning out, until a couple years ago when they decided to move the party all the way to San Diego (-___-). My dad's always working that day and my mom can't drive that far. So, as a result I haven't seen a lot of my cousins from my dad's side in 2 years.

As for Christmas...well, I guess that's stayed pretty much the same. Thank goodness.

Well, I guess I should go do the dishes now. ick, my mom's going to Las Vegas for a couple days with my aunts, so me and my sisters will need to do a lot of the house chores D: Yay responsibility.

  1. Oh, chores aren't fun at all.
Your Christmases sound a lot like my Christmases as a youngster.
